
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 63
(By Delegates Leach, Hubbard, Jenkins, Johnson,
Romine and Smirl)
Requesting the West Virginia Division of Highways to name the new
bridge in Altizer, Cabell County, West Virginia, across the
Guyandotte River at the intersection of U. S. Route 60 East
and Washington Boulevard "The T. R. Wickline Bridge."

Whereas, T. R. "Tommy" Wickline served in the United States
Navy from 1940 to 1946 and is a survivor of that infamous attack on
Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and participated in eleven major
battles during World War II; and

Whereas, T. R. "Tommy" Wickline has been married to Lena
Wickline for fifty years and that union produced two daughters; and

Whereas, T. R. "Tommy" Wickline is a member of the Riverview
United Methodist Church and has been for forty-five years, where he
has been a Sunday School teacher for forty-three years; he is a
member of the American Legion Post #16 and the Veterans of Foreign
Wars Post #9738; and a member of the Altizer Community Council; and

Whereas, T. R. "Tommy" Wickline, loving husband and father, has
served his church, country and community faithfully for over half
a century and is valued for this service of a lifetime and good
works in the community in which he lived that he should be
recognized and honored during his lifetime by naming the new bridge in Altizer for this distinguished citizen, husband and father;
therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the Legislature hereby requests the West Virginia
Division of Highways to name the new bridge in Altizer, Cabell
County, West Virginia, across the Guyandotte River at the
intersection of U. S. Route 60 East and Washington Boulevard "The
T. R. Wickline Bridge"; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the West Virginia Division of Highways
provide and erect a sign at either end of the bridge displaying the
name of the bridge; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates is
hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the
Commissioner of the Division of Highways and T. R. "Tommy"
Wickline.
